Hello! Thank you for your interest in working with us at The Honeycomb Works.
Since 2016 we’ve been helping organisations build more inclusive and innovative cultures using science, data and technology. Our mission is for everyone to feel like they belong and are free to invent at work.
We work habit by habit, person by person, at scale. And we need help.
Specifically we need support in the areas of research and data science, UX design, client engagement and consultancy.
We welcome candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. We don’t mind gaps in CVs (none of our business), portfolio careers (broad perspectives and experiences are very welcome), and don’t really mind if or where you went to university (our CEO is American so actually can’t tell the difference).
The only thing we don’t tolerate is intolerance. Here, there is no question that Black Lives Matter or that trans rights are human rights. If you find either of these statements of fact controversial, we are not the right place for you.
But, if you want to create a world of work where equality is the norm, micro-aggressions are a (quickly corrected) anomaly and the brilliance of all the people who have been ignored is unleashed to solve the world’s biggest problems, please continue reading.
Below are our areas of most critical need but if you believe in our mission and have other ways you think you can help, please get in touch. We’d love to meet you.
All roles are flexible in terms of time and location and will have their scope agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate to best match their skills and goals for development.

+ DEI Research & Data analyst/scientist
We are looking for a data analyst who also understands research and, even if they don’t have experience in DEI, has an interest and willingness to learn.
We work with clients across a range of sectors and conduct deep research to understand their current culture, particularly from a DEI, innovation and psychological safety perspective.
You’ll be analysing a range of quantitative data types (inc. research surveys; behavioural feedback and user behaviour) and making evidence based recommendations on areas our clients need to prioritise change, future research, app development and more.
The key to this role will be being able to take any data set or data related problem and identify the most efficient but effective solution.
While not essential, ideally this will also be a client facing role. You’ll be working with our DEI and Research Consultants to communicate findings and recommendations to clients in the most effective way.
This is an expert role - which means you’ll also be working with other members of the THCW team to educate them around research and data.
You need to have experience with:
- Conducting deep quantitative analysis and translating it into actionable insights.
- Data visualisation tools (Tableau, PowerBI or similar)
- SQL
- Statistics
- Strong working knowledge of excel/Google sheets
- Presenting complex data in simple, visually appealing ways for people who have little-no experience with data
- Breaking complex ideas and topics into simple, understandable pieces
- Discussing recommendations with clients*, and making recommendations for action based on the data
- Problem solving, whether it’s data analysis, how to use a new piece of tech or simple something you’ve never done before you will need to have experience creatively solving problems
We would love you to also have experience of:
- Data mining to identify hidden patterns and insights
- Conducting advanced statistical and predictive modelling to build, maintain and automate analytics
- Quantitative research design
- At least one data based programming language (R, Python or similar)
- Structuring databases to collect data in a scalable way
- Running workshops to identify KPIs and long term impact measures
- Presenting and discussing findings with clients
Currently this is a part time, contract role, but we are hoping to be able to expand the team permanently later in the year. The role reports to the Director of Behavioural Science & Research
Salary and working schedule both open to discussion, depending on experience and availability.
+ Client Impact Manager
We are looking for a Client Manager to help us ensure we deliver value and impact to our clients. We pride ourselves delivering long term, embedded improvements so key to this role will be thinking strategically about how to drive the most long term impact.
We are looking for someone who is part client manager, part consultant and part long term business development. You’ll need to:
Build strong relationships with clients
- Manage and track multiple moving project pieces at once, adapting as projects change
- Manage people - the THCW team, external consultants, the client team - they all need different information at different times and you’ll be able to track and deliver that information
- Identify potential problems - a too tight a timeline, a key person’s availability or a tech issue - you’ll be proactively identifying issues and solutions
- Work out a solution - sometimes fixing things that go wrong, sometimes finding new creative ways to manage something
- Consider situations from the client and end users perspective, prioritising the needs of the most vulnerable
Provide strategic advice to clients
- Plan and run meetings and workshops with clients, providing thorough proactive follow up after
- Advise clients - provide advice on the best course of action and support them through change
- Apply effective learning and behaviour change design, in advice to clients and input into strategies and future proposals
- Use data to better understand and advise clients
- Everything we do is based on evidence and data - being able to interpret basic client data and make recommendations would be an advantage
Manage business development opportunities, with new and existing clients
- Identify and follow up on opportunities to deliver more value to clients
- Attend pitch meetings, asking probing questions to get underneath the perceived need to identify the actual problem
- Design solutions using our portfolio of product and services, summarise into a proposal and present that proposal to clients
- Clearly explain the features and benefits of the solution
- Develop long term, empathy based relationships with clients and prospects so we can help them change work for the better
Currently this is a part time, contract role with an urgent immediate need, but we are hoping to be able to expand the team permanently later in the year.
The role reports to the Director of Behavioural Science & Research, but also works closely with the Founder & CEO.
+ Consultants
We are looking for consultants to help us deliver valuable insights and analysis to our clients.
This could be in the form of research and analysis or workshop facilitation and coaching. We pride ourselves delivering long term, embedded impact to our clients so key to this role will be thinking strategically about how to drive the most long term impact.
Any consultant we partner with has knowledge (or deep willingness to learn) about DEI topics. As well, you’ll have experience of one or more of the following skills areas.
We don’t expect one person to be able to do all this and we don’t mind which of the following you have expertise in. If you have deep expertise in a couple of areas but really want to develop in others we’d also love to hear from you.
We are looking for someone who can deliver consultancy, specifically to:
- Advise on HR policy and processes, particularly from the perspective of improving DEI
- Design evidence based behaviour change approaches for both individuals and groups (teams & organisations)
- Design practical, evidence based, behaviour change driven workshops that are inclusive and support learning, participation and engagement
- Deliver and facilitate workshops

And support our research projects:

- Qualitative data analysis - basic understanding of thematic analysis, discourse analysis or other qualitative methodologies
- Research and data reporting that communicates the information at the right level for the client
- Discussing research findings with clients
- Distilling research into practical actions - what should organisations/people do differently based on research. This will include sourcing, reviewing, critically analysing and consolidating academic research.
Our Consultant roles are freelance and part-time currently, we hope to bring someone on full time in 2021.
