Junior Analyst (R) / Research Assistant

About us

We help organisations build more inclusive and innovative cultures using science, data and technology. Our mission is for everyone to feel like they belong and are free to invent at work.

We work habit by habit, person by person, at scale. And we need help.

Specifically, we are looking for a Junior Analyst and Research Assistant with experience of R, to support our Research and Impact team ensuring the data we gather is helping us to create inclusive cultures.

We welcome candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. We don’t mind gaps in CVs (none of our business), portfolio careers (broad perspectives and experiences are very welcome), and don’t really mind if or where you went to university (our CEO is American so actually can’t tell the difference).

The only thing we don’t tolerate is intolerance. Here, there is no question that Black Lives Matter or that trans rights are human rights. If you find either of these statements of fact controversial, we are not the right place for you.

But, if you want to create a world of work where equality is the norm, microaggressions are a (quickly corrected) anomaly and the brilliance of all the people who have been ignored is unleashed to solve the world’s biggest problems, please continue reading.

All roles are flexible in terms of time and location and will have their scope agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate to best match their skills and goals for development.

Junior Analyst - R / Research Assistant

We are looking for a consultant to help us deliver valuable insights and analysis to our clients that will create progress in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Our Honeycomb platform generates valuable insights by gathering behavioural data alongside demographic data providing a rich picture of what is happening within organisations and what needs to change. We have built a dashboard using R that turns the data into insights and we are looking for additional support to iterate on the dashboard and dive deeper into the data.

The Junior Analyst will be responsible for:

Honeycomb data analysis: Analysing the results in our dashboard, using R to create additional queries that answer researcher and client specific questions, iterating on the dashboard by continuing to improve it.

Quantitative data analysis: Support on other research and data projects that further explore diversity equity and inclusion at work.

Presenting and communicating insights from data: credibly and compellingly explaining data and what it means, creating visualisations that help convey meaning.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is fluent and confident in R and takes a rigorous approach: you’ll be responsible for data validity, extracting more insights, and ensuring everything you deliver is accurate.

  • Will think long-term and strategically: you’ll look at everything we are doing and implement techniques that will increase the value of our data and the efficiency of how we share it, continuing to evolve our data dashboard.

  • Will be collaborative: you’ll work closely with the rest of the team - marketing, product and delivery -  answering research questions and proactively sharing findings that are relevant to them.

  • Is a clear and empathetic communicator: you can share the right information at the right level so non-experts understand complex information and feel motivated to drive change.

  • Will prioritise the most vulnerable: we expect our researchers to prioritise the safety and security of the people who trust us with their very personal feelings about themselves and others - they should challenge the team when they are overreaching, flag up risks and ensure everything we do has critical safeguards built in.

Salary and working schedule are both open to discussion, depending on experience and availability. For now, we anticipate the role being 2-3 days per week which will hopefully increase to full-time in 6-12 months.

Salary: £24,000.00-£34,000.00 per year based on an annual salary and will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of hours.
