What did we learn about inclusive cultures in engineering startups?
We started out with an important question. ‘How to create and sustain inclusive, innovative cultures in engineering startups and scale-ups?’
After 49 research participants, 18 participating organisations, 1 detailed theory of change, 100+ hours of user research alone (not to mention desk research), we’re finally ready to share our findings report with you.
Our research uncovered some of the barriers to inclusion along with some of the well-meaning actions organisations are taking that might have an unintended negative impact. We also share some of the preliminary findings gathered via the Culture+ platform including evidence that women have less positive experiences than men when it comes to inclusive communication and giving and receiving feedback.
What was overwhelmingly clear was the desire everyone we spoke to had to prioritise inclusive cultures as they grew. Our report also contains recommendations of the key areas to focus on at each stage of your growth to ensure you do just that.
